Business Mentoring Service

Our mission is to help you create an extra-ordinary business and to help you manage that business so that you can create more wealth.

The Quinn Business Development Group recognises that there is a business support gap within the Small to Medium Enterprise Sector.

It is not realistic to have a comprehensive board of directors governing your company.  Therefore you should place reliance on your professional business mentor.

The Quinn Business Development mentoring service is made up of 4 parts:

1. Planning Day - i.e. the diagnostics
2. Budget and Forecasting, - the strategy and planning
3. Regular Management Meetings – the execution, ensuring it happens
4. Financial Statement preparation and tax planning – testing and measuring performance

The Planning Day

We undertake a review of your Business, analyse past and present performance so we can fully understand where your business is at.  Remember, prescription without full diagnosis is malpractice.

Using our Profit Optimiser software we are able to quickly establish the performance of the key drivers of your business.

During the Planning Day we help you establish where you want to take your business – what your goals and objectives are.  We help you identify those factors that are critical to the success of your business.

The Profit Optimiser process helps you to understand the Profit Improvement Potential in your business, by creating various ‘what if’ scenarios.  It also provides an in-depth diagnostic of your business plans.

During the Planning Day we undertake a comprehensive review of the key dimensions of your business being:

  • Business Management
  • Human Resources
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Operations
  • Finance

An important outcome of the Planning Day is the Action Plan. The Action Plan is a comprehensive set of actions that must be completed to achieve the set business objectives.

Budget Preparation and Forecasting

Once your business objectives are set it’s important to demonstrate how the financial and non-financial activities will affect profit, productivity and cash flow.

By working with you to understand the drivers of your business, we can help make the future more visible.

We will help you with the preparation of budgets, forecast profit and loss reporting, cash flow projections, and projected balance sheets.  Such business models quantify your business plan providing transparency for the future.

Regular Leadership and Governance Meetings

This is perhaps the most important step in the chain.

Once the objectives of the business and budget are set, the plan needs to be EXECUTED.

Incorrect implementation of the plan, or worse, no implementation, is singularly the main reason for business failure.

We will meet with you regularly either monthly, quarterly or six monthly, to convene a structured meeting.  The key benefit is to provide you with commercial support and create a clear purpose and structure for decision making.  Each meeting will be covered by an agenda and minutes will be taken.

Financial Statements and Tax Planning Strategies

We will undertake a review of the performance of your business.

By analysing the relationships between various elements of your Financial Statements, we are able to form a judgment about the financial health of your business.  This is something you should monitor continuously.

Your balance sheet represents a picture of the financial position of your business at a particular point in time and your income statement reflects its operating performance over a period of time.  Together, they reflect the quality of management decisions and business processes as well as the state of the environment in which you operate.

Taken alone, ratios mean very little.  However, considerable analytic value is achieved by examining trends over time and when they are compared with industry standards and/or internal performance benchmarks.

Our Business Mentoring Service is dependent on the quality of information received from you.  Therefore it is important that the strengths and weaknesses of the information is understood.

Significant improvements to your business’ financial practice can be achieved.

This service allows us to understand your tax planning needs which feeds directly into the preparation of a budget or forecast.
